Spreading the love of quilling 2013

In an effort to spread the love of quilling, we had took part in two exciting events this December!

The first one is a free quilling workshop for children, jointly organised by PnQ and Seedling Learning Centre, on the 1st of Dec. Altogether there were 20 plus children participants. Initially the parents were there to assist heir younger children, but ended up they themselves also had fun quilling. We each made a poinsettia card and a simple Christmas tree tag.

The second event is a quillers-meet-up which was held on the 7th. We had fun quilling and meeting other quillers. We also had a Christmas card exchange session. Since everyone enjoyed it, so we probably will meet quarterly in future.

SBC Biodiversity Day

We were invited to take part in Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC) Biodiversity Day on 18th and 19th last month in which we were given a booth for exhibition. There was also a make-and-take session using recycled strips for the public to participate and experience the fun of quilling. And now let the photos do the talking.

Thanks again to SBC for giving us a chance to be part of the wonderful event and special credits go to Eunice, Gilbert, Lee Sze, Aisha and SBC staffs at the origami/quilling booth. And thanks to all who dropped by at our booth! Love you all!

Our Booth at Bloom Bazaar 5

Sorry for the late post about Bloom Bazaar 5 - Xmas edition at Hills Shopping Mall. We were so tired after the 2-days-10am-to-10pm bazaar. This is our first time taking part in a bazaar. It was a wonderful experience! Not only we get to meet old friends and make new friends who share the passion of crafting, we also get to explain about our crafts and demo 'face-to-face' to shoppers who dropped by at our booth. And so now, if you would, let the pictures do the talking...

We did a demo and sharing session at Popular Tun Jugah yesterday. We started with a presentation entitled 'Quilling: ancient craft, modern art' and followed by demo on how to quill. We thanked all who turned up to support us. We also thanked Popular Tun Jugah for the invitation to share our love for quilling.

Spreading the love for quilling

At Paper N Quill we believe that quilling is an art/craft for everybody regardless your age and gender (thus our slogan 'Everyone can quill'). We work towards introducing this lovely, easy and fun (plus relatively inexpensive) art to our local community here in Kuching. Perhaps it is for this good intention that we were given opportunities by our local media to talk and share about the art of quilling.

Our first appearance to intro about quilling was with Red Fm 91.9. We did a live interview on air in Mandarin about the brief history of quilling, basic tools needed and also Paper N Quill's quilling story. It was an enjoyable one hour interview with the DJ Celine. In fact it's more like a merry chat between friends ^_^

Our second appearance was on local newspaper International Times 国际时报 today. We were featured with a full page coverage. The interview was actually conducted weeks ago. We demonstrated how to D.I.Y a simple flower pattern as well as sharing on the history and applications of quilling in daily life. The article was written in a clear and easy-to-understand manner with lots of colourful pictures. Special credits go to the author/reporter Hui Meng. ^_^
